LURF Gallery's Upcoming Exhibition: Concept and Execution
LURF Gallery invites art enthusiasts to explore a thought-provoking group exhibition titled "Concept and Execution" commencing on June 27, 2025. Located on the 2nd floor of LURF Gallery in Daikanyama, this exhibition features five talented artists, each with a connection to Tokyo University of the Arts, yet expressing their art through varied generations, perspectives, and techniques.
Artistic Approaches
The core theme of the exhibition focuses on two distinct approaches taken by the artists: those who start their creative process from a concept and those who begin from execution. This dichotomy not only presents a different methodology in their artworks but also deeply relates to their thoughts, sensibilities, and unique ways of expression. By contrasting these two methods, viewers can gain insight into how such approaches reflect in the final works, challenging their perception of artistic creation.
Participating artists include:
- - Takahiro Ueda - A graduate from the Graduate School of Advanced Art and Design at Tokyo University of the Arts. Ueda's unique approach often reflects his experiences gained during his time abroad, enriching his artistic voice.
- - Masahiro Masuda - An accomplished artist with a PhD from Tokyo University of the Arts. Masuda's work explores connections between scattering and unity, drawing viewers into a captivating dialogue with each piece.
- - Kana Mitsunari - Currently enrolled in the graduate program, Mitsunari will present compelling pieces focused on the themes of still life and the nuances of semi-fiction.
- - Yuichi Shiroma - A recent graduate whose art captures the essence of fleeting moments and contemporary narratives, inviting viewers to engage deeply with the layered meanings behind them.
- - Aoi Kaneko - The youngest of the group, still at university, brings a fresh perspective with her innovative pieces that reflect her youthful exploration of material and form.

LURF Gallery serves as a sanctuary for creative exploration and innovation, having opened its doors in Daikanyama in 2022. It champions artists who traverse the spectrum between modern and contemporary art, continuously seeking their unique style free from the constraints of age or career length.
