Arai Corporation Donates to Emergency Food Aid in Middle East

Arai Corporation's Initiative for Emergency Food Aid in the Middle East

In response to the escalating humanitarian crisis in the Middle East, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP Japan) has launched a fundraising campaign titled "Emergency Food Aid Fund for Countries Surrounding Iran" beginning March 6, 2026. This initiative aims to provide critical support not only to Iran but also to surrounding nations like Turkey, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Yemen, Palestine, and Armenia.

Recognizing the urgent need for assistance, Arai Corporation, headquartered in Hiratsuka, Kanagawa Prefecture and led by President Ryozo Arai, has made a significant donation of 3 million yen to WFP Japan to bolster their emergency food aid efforts in the region.

On April 7, 2026, a donation ceremony was held where President Arai expressed the company’s commitment: "We have built connections through our auction business with around 120 members from the Middle East. This support is a heartfelt way to give back to those who have supported us. Our goal is to ensure that aid reaches not only Iran but also those in need across the Middle East as quickly as possible. We pledge to continue our support in any way we can."

Additionally, Aoki Hajime, Secretary-General of WFP Japan, emphasized the widespread impact of the crisis, stating, "The current crisis extends beyond Iran and has significant ramifications for surrounding countries. The WFP is already delivering urgent food assistance on the ground, and we are prepared to scale up our efforts in response to the deteriorating situation. Timely contributions from the private sector are invaluable and allow us to respond flexibly to these immediate needs."

The worsening humanitarian conditions in the Middle East are a pressing concern, and our thoughts are with those who are suffering. We extend our sincere hopes that essential food support reaches individuals in need as soon as possible.
