Decarbon8-US Impact Fund Launches Applications for 2026
The Decarbon8-US Impact Fund has announced the opening of its Request for Applications (RFA) for 2026, targeting early-stage companies that are innovating in climate resilience solutions. This initiative, run by E8, a membership community composed of accredited investors, aims to enhance the frameworks that communities rely on for essential resources like energy, water, and food.
The Urgent Need for Climate Resilience
Climate resilience has transformed from an abstract future concern into a present-day urgent challenge. With increasingly extreme weather events and resource scarcity becoming common, addressing climate resilience is crucial. Marina Psaros, the manager of Decarbon8 and an E8 member, emphasizes the pressing need for innovative solutions in this space, stating, "Climate resilience is as demanding of our capital, creativity, and commitment as climate mitigation."
Application Process and Eligibility
The application period runs until June 18, 2026, inviting companies that demonstrate significant technological advancements in three critical areas: grid resilience, water security, and food security. To qualify, applicants must:
- - Demonstrate technology solving a significant climate resilience issue
- - Exhibit plans for scaling based on proven assumptions
- - Show a clear path to maintaining a competitive edge
- - Have a leadership team with relevant industry and entrepreneurial experience
- - Be at the Pre-seed to Series A stage
- - Be incorporated in the USA or Canada (C-, S-, or B-corp)
- - Have an active funding round accepting investments until mid-October 2026
Solutions of interest may focus on maintaining energy systems under stress while supporting decentralized power production, enhancing water supply through efficiency and monitoring, or promoting climate-adaptive food production practices.
Investment Support and Benefits
Selected companies could receive an average funding package of around $300,000, sourced from the Decarbon8 Fund, Annual Fund, and investments from E8 members. Beyond just financial support, choosen entities will benefit from networking opportunities throughout events, access to follow-up investments, and enhanced visibility within the investor community. Notably, previous portfolio companies have collectively raised over $8.4 million in co-investment from the E8 community.
Evaluation and Selection
Finalists will be determined by mid-September and will have the chance to pitch their ideas to the E8 community for additional investment opportunities. The selection process will feature evaluations from a group of seasoned judges, including expert climate investors.
