Linyi City in Shandong Aims to Establish an International Logistics and Trade Hub

Linyi City, situated in the eastern coastal province of Shandong, China, has recently set its sights on establishing an international logistics and trade center. This initiative was highlighted during the third International Sourcing Conference held on October 10, 2025, at the Linyi Mall. The event attracted over 2,000 buyers from 99 countries and regions, reflecting the city's growing importance as a global trade platform.

In recent years, Linyi has garnered the title of "China's Logistics City" and has emerged as a pivotal national logistics hub for business services. It serves as a crucial goods distribution center within China, thanks to its strategic location and infrastructure. With its distinct advantages in convention services, live e-commerce, market procurement, and cross-border e-commerce, Linyi is poised to enhance its international trade profile further.

The Linyi Mall, which has been operational for several years, is at the heart of this ambition. It houses 136 specialized wholesale markets, with over 63,700 retail shops and 46,000 commercial households employing around one million individuals in trade logistics. This extensive network supports the trade of approximately six million product types across 27 categories, effectively covering core production and essential living goods.

Linyi's geographical advantages contribute to a vast market cluster, making it an essential player in China’s trade landscape. It is equipped with a comprehensive logistics network consisting of roads, rail, sea, and air transport, underscoring its role as a logistics transit hub. The city has developed 22 logistics parks and more than 3,000 domestic delivery routes, catering to all cities above the county level. Remarkably, Linyi's logistics costs are about 30% lower than the national average, making it an attractive location for businesses.

In advancing its internationalization strategy, Linyi has accelerated the development of four new shopping centers that integrate both online and offline markets. By 2024, these shopping centers achieved a transaction volume of 660 billion Yuan, while the overall logistics volume surpassed one trillion Yuan. The import and export volume for the center reached an impressive 114.6 billion Yuan in 2024, marking significant growth.

To attract foreign merchants while simultaneously supporting local businesses in their international expansion efforts, Linyi Mall has successfully managed to facilitate the growth of 476 companies exploring overseas markets. In just the first eight months of 2025, these efforts contributed to an impressive import and export value of 10.267 billion Yuan, reflecting a notable increase of 58.5% compared to the previous year.

As the city continues to evolve into a key international logistics and trade hub, Linyi’s initiatives underline its commitment to fostering trade collaboration along the Belt and Road Initiative. By building on its existing strengths and expanding its global network, Linyi is set to play a significant role in the future of international trade in the Asia-Pacific region. With continuous investments in infrastructure and services, the city is not only aiming to improve its domestic logistics capabilities but also enhance its standing as a vital gateway for global commerce.
