Empowering Dreams: Financial Support for Temporary Workers in Japan

The WILLOF Foundation, located in Tokyo, Japan, is launching its fifth funding initiative aimed at supporting temporary workers across the nation. This program provides financial assistance of up to 1 million yen for those who aspire to realize their dreams in the fields of sports and arts.

Beginning on September 1, 2025, and running through October 31, 2025, eligible applicants can apply to receive mentorship and monetary support to help them chase their aspirations. This opportunity is open to approximately 1.91 million temporary workers, regardless of their employment agency, who are currently engaged in these creative fields.

About WILLOF Foundation

Founded in April 2021, the WILLOF Foundation supports temporary workers who wish to pursue their dreams and ambitions. The foundation was established by WILLOF Group, a leading human resource service provider in Japan that operates in various fields, including construction, IT, and healthcare.

Speaking on the importance of this initiative, Hideki Murakami, the representative director, emphasized the foundation’s commitment to fostering a society where everyone can pursue their passions. Our mission, he stated, aligns with the vision of WILLOF as a 'Chance-Making Company'—enabling opportunities for individuals to grow and succeed.

The program aims to guide applicants through the complexities of funding and project development. Participants selected in this round will commence their funded activities starting in January 2026.

Previous Success Stories

In the previous funding round, four temporary workers received assistance to further their dreams. Among them was Wataru Hayama, an IT engineer from Tokyo, who aspires to compete at the highest levels in e-sports, particularly in the game "Street Fighter 6." After placing ninth in an international tournament during his university years, he has since been working as a temporary employee while continuing to pursue his e-sport career. His goal for 2025 is to participate in the prestigious Capcom Cup, which requires substantial support to cover not only tournament fees but also travel costs to overseas competitions.

Another notable recipient is Akira Sagawa from Shiga, who transitioned from a full-time nursing job to being a temporary employee to dedicate more time to her passion for snowboarding. She achieved her first victory against professional competitors during a prestigious slalom event and aims to secure further qualifications and victories in her sporting career.

Similarly, Satoru Tezuka is leveraging his experience as a temporary employee while producing impactful documentaries. Known for his past successes, Tezuka is now focusing on a new project themed around family, with ambitions to showcase it at international film festivals.

Yuko Kitakoji, a fin swimmer from Kanagawa, has also been continuously supported since the inception of the foundation. She aspires to break her personal best records at every event this year, showcasing the determined spirit the funding aims to inspire.

How to Apply for the Program

Anyone interested must meet specific criteria to apply for this assistance:
