Engage with Spirituality Through Art at 'Death Fest 2026'
Bunkamura Gallery 8/ is set to host an intriguing exhibition titled 'In the Outline of Prayer,' coinciding with the 'Death Fest 2026' from April 11 to April 26, 2026. This unique event, held on the 8th floor of Shibuya Hikarie, is open daily from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM and is free of charge.
'In the Outline of Prayer' brings together eight visionary artists who explore the diverse targets of prayers, shedding light on their personal interpretations of spirituality. This exhibition aligns with the underlying philosophy of 'Death Fest,' which invites attendees to reflect positively on the theme of death through creative expression.
Participants will encounter a variety of artistic works that delve into the multifaceted nature of prayer, drawing on a rich tapestry of cultural and religious backgrounds. The artists will showcase an array of materials and techniques, capturing the essence of their unique interactions with the concept of prayer.
Among the artists featured is Takuma Uekane, known for his work 'Peacock Myo,' crafted from FRP resin, epoxy resin, and brass. Attendees can also look forward to pieces by Makoto Egashira, Masayo Kyotsuka, Yoshito Koyama, Tomoya Sakai, Yuu Sugawara, Yuuki Hashimoto, and Hiroshi Sanda, each contributing their vision to this collective exploration of spirituality.
As visitors stroll through the gallery, they will have the opportunity to confront their own perceptions of prayer through the lens of contemporary art. There is a chance to experience unexpected connections with art that resonates deeply within one’s soul.

Workshop: 'Let's Create My Outline of Prayer'
In addition to the exhibition and talks, a hands-on workshop titled 'Let’s Create My Outline of Prayer' will provide participants the opportunity to express their personal prayer targets using clay. Starting with a guided gallery tour featuring the concepts of the exhibited artists, attendees will then create their unique representations of prayer.
