The Huawei ICT Competition 2024-2025 Global Final Concludes



The Huawei ICT Competition 2024-2025 Global Final, held in Shenzhen, marked an outstanding achievement in fostering educational innovation through technology. This year's competition attracted over 210,000 students and instructors from more than 2,000 universities across 100 countries, setting a remarkable precedent for the event, now in its 9th edition.

This year's competition saw 179 teams competing at the global level after excelling in their respective national and regional contests. Participants showcased their skills across three key tracks: Practice, Innovation, and Programming.

Award Winners



Among the top contenders, Grand Prizes were awarded to 18 exemplary teams from nine countries, including China, Algeria, Brazil, the Philippines, Morocco, Nigeria, Serbia, Tanzania, and Singapore. Some of the most notable winners were:
  • - Innovation Competition: Recognized teams from Bulacan State University (Philippines), Beijing University of Technology (China), Faculty of Technical Sciences Čačak (Serbia), and Faculty of Sciences and Techniques (Morocco).
  • - Practice Competition - Network Track: Winners included teams from Shenzhen Institute of Information Technology (China), Instituto Federal do Tocantins (Brazil), and a collaborative team from multiple universities in Tanzania.
  • - Practice Competition - Cloud Track: Teams from iACADEMY (Philippines), University of Batna 2 (Algeria), and Tianjin University of Technology and Education (China) emerged victorious.
  • - Practice Competition - Computing Track: Grand Prizes were awarded to Guilin University of Electronic Technology (China) and teams from Nigeria, Algeria, and the Philippines.
  • - Programming Competition: A notable achievement was awarded to Shenzhen Polytechnic University (China).

In addition to the competitive accolades, special awards were presented to recognize exceptional contributions to the field. The Women in Tech Award honored all-female teams from Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Germany, and Kenya, while the Green Development Award was bestowed upon a team from Ghana. Furthermore, 18 distinguished instructors from countries such as China, Algeria, Bangladesh, and Nigeria were acknowledged for their significant contributions to ICT education.

Promoting Technological Skills



During the ceremony, Ritchie Peng, Director of ICT Strategy and Business Development at Huawei, emphasized the importance of competitive learning to foster innovation, stating that the competition’s design evolved continually to meet the current demands for skills in areas like cloud computing, big data, and AI. He further noted the competition's aim to equip students with the necessary skills for today’s job market, particularly in fields facing a talent shortage, such as AI and cybersecurity.

To complement the competition, Huawei also organized the AI Accelerating Education Transformation Summit. This summit highlighted the crucial role that artificial intelligence plays in enhancing educational experiences. It coincided with the announcement of the AI capabilities on the Huawei ICT Academy Intelligent Platform, simplifying the user experience for educators and students, thereby advancing digital education.
