Julien's Auctions to Host Bob Dylan Auction

On January 18, 2025, Julien's Auctions will hold an exclusive auction titled "Celebrating Bob Dylan: The Aronowitz Archive and T Bone Burnett" at the Musicians Hall of Fame Museum in Nashville, TN. This anticipated event features an impressive array of 60 items, with 50 significant pieces from the collection of journalist Al Aronowitz.

Among the highlights of the auction are two pages of typewritten drafts of the lyrics to the iconic song "Mr. Tambourine Man," estimated to sell for between $400,000 and $600,000. Additionally, an early 1968 oil painting by Bob Dylan is expected to fetch between $200,000 and $300,000. Other notable items include a flyer from his first solo performance at New York's Town Hall in 1963, historic photographs, original sketches, and more.

The auction's centerpiece is one of the Ionic Original discs from Bob Dylan's 2021 studio recording of "The Times They Are A-Changin'," produced by Grammy Award-winner T Bone Burnett. This unique artifact carries an estimated value of $400,000 to $600,000 and marks the second public sale of an Ionic Original recording after the auction of "Blowin' In The Wind" in 2022.

Myles Aronowitz, son of Al Aronowitz, reflects on his father's legacy, stating, "My father had an amazing ability to connect people... He introduced Allen Ginsberg to Bob Dylan and Bob Dylan to The Beatles... This collection showcases my father's instinctive knack for identifying and engaging with great talents."

T Bone Burnett shared his thoughts on the new recording, emphasizing the emotional resonance of hearing Bob Dylan sing "The Times They Are A-Changin'" sixty years after its creation. He remarked, "This Ionic Original is the definitive version of this unforgettable song."

A special exhibition highlighting the finest of Al Aronowitz's collection will run from December 18, 2024, to January 17, 2025, at the Musicians Hall of Fame Museum. The auction is set to begin at 10:00 AM CT on January 18, featuring a diverse range of items, including a signed harmonica, original typewritten lyrics to "Mr. Tambourine Man," the aforementioned 1968 oil painting, a Fender Telecaster guitar, a customized denim jacket from the 1987 film "Hearts of Fire," and other rare artifacts.

This event presents unique opportunities for collectors and fans to acquire rare pieces connected to Bob Dylan's illustrious career and the legacy of Al Aronowitz, a man who played a pivotal role in the music industry.
