Upcoming Play 'Zebra' Explores Family Bonds in a Unique Way

This creative endeavor brings together talented actresses such as Shizuka Nakamura, Yuria Kizaki, Hinata Sato, and the comedy duo Unibasu Hara, depicting the lives of four sisters as they confront their shared history and emotional struggles. The captivating design showcases the sisters positioned against a backdrop reminiscent of a whale curtain and zebra stripes, symbolizing the tangled web of thoughts and feelings that often accompany familial bonds.

The journey begins when the four sisters—Yasuko, Kaoru, Nao, and Miharu—respond to the concerning news about their mother’s health and gather at their family home after a long time apart. Despite their reunion being cheerful, an underlying tension fills the air, occasionally interrupting their interactions. Their personal lives and emotions add layers to this complicated gathering.

As the evening unfolds, more people arrive: Yasuko's husband Yukio, Kaoru's fiancé Masayoshi Rida, Miharu's husband Hayakawa Osamu, Miharu’s schoolmate Hiroshi Asano, and even Yukio’s affair partner, Miwaka Tokoro. Adding to the mix are the unexpected appearances of the funeral directors, brothers Shinichiro and Kenji Kakimuma, who intensify the already complex atmosphere.
