Mediaplus North America Welcomes Alan Schanzer as New COO

Mediaplus North America Expands Leadership with New COO

Mediaplus North America, affiliated with Serviceplan Group, is making headlines with the recent appointment of Alan Schanzer as its new Chief Operating Officer. This move aims to broaden the agency's leadership and operational capabilities in a rapidly evolving media landscape.

Based in New York, Schanzer brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He will report directly to Tamara Alesi, the CEO, as he takes charge of the agency's operational structure, growth strategies, and industry partnerships. His primary goal will be to align the agency's efforts with Serviceplan Group's strategic growth plans, focusing on global expansion.

In his own words, Schanzer expressed his admiration for Mediaplus and the impressive work it has accomplished in a short timeframe. With the current media environment becoming increasingly intricate due to fragmented audiences and technological advancements—especially with AI altering the business dynamics—Schanzer felt it was the ideal time to return to the agency realm and confront these challenges. He sees Mediaplus as the right fit for his career aspirations, highlighting his eagerness to deliver exceptional results for their clients.

Prior to joining Mediaplus, Schanzer held a key position at Amazon as a Principal GTM Specialist for the Audio division. His role involved driving innovation and advertising strategies across audio platforms, including Music and Alexa. Before his Amazon tenure, he played significant roles in advancing sales and partnership operations at well-known companies like Warner Music Group, SiriusXM, and Pandora. Notably, during his time at SiriusXM/Pandora, he led initiatives that tripled ad revenues significantly, showcasing his ability to boost income through innovative sales strategies.

Schanzer's career began as the Founder and Managing Partner at The Digital Edge, part of MEC Global (now known as WPP Media). His contributions to shaping integrated digital media strategies for major brands are considerable, and he was instrumental in establishing GroupM's foundational digital strategies.

Tamara Alesi, CEO of Mediaplus, shared her excitement regarding Schanzer's appointment, emphasizing their shared history and professional chemistry. Alesi described this collaboration as more than just a new hire; it symbolizes a reunion with a deep commitment to achieving excellence. Both leaders are enthusiastic about exploring new avenues and methodologies in the evolving media landscape, especially given the limitations of traditional holding company frameworks.

Schanzer's recognition in the industry is notable—he has been honored as a Mediaweek Media All-Star and an Ad Age Media Maven, and he has earned spots as one of MediaPost’s 50 Most Influential People in Advertising. Furthering his impact, he is actively engaged in environmental advocacy through his leadership role at Nature Israel.
