MUSVI Completes Series A Funding Round
MUSVI Corporation has achieved a significant milestone by raising a total of 720 million yen in its Series A funding round, completed as of November 2024. The company specializes in the development and sales of its telepresence system known as "Mado," which delivers a near-authentic communication experience that rivals in-person interactions.
Based in Shinagawa, Tokyo, and led by founder and CEO Yusuke Sakai, MUSVI has been instrumental in pushing the boundaries of remote communication technology. The latest funding was received through a third-party allocation of shares from Sumitomo Venture Partners, a corporate venture capital arm of the Sumitomo Corporation Group, along with financing through new shares with warrants provided by the Japan Finance Corporation. This strategic partnership not only ensures a steady influx of long-term capital but also taps into the extensive global network and resources of the Sumitomo Corporation Group.
Since its formal launch in September 2022, MUSVI has deployed more than 600 units of its "Mado" system across various sectors domestically and internationally. The technology is rooted in over 20 years of development at Sony Corporation, aiming to provide remarkable realism and minimal latency in telecommunication.
Objectives of the Fundraising
The purpose of this latest funding is to enhance the capabilities of "Mado" and expand its operational reach in the digital technology landscape. With a vision to address social challenges through innovative communication means, MUSVI continues to thrive by collaborating closely with investors and sales partners.
The CEO, Yusuke Sakai, expressed immense gratitude towards Sumitomo Venture Partners and the Japan Finance Corporation for their trust and backing. He emphasizes that this collaboration allows MUSVI to deepen the potential of its telepresence system, bridging distances and connecting people and spaces in authentic ways.
Investor's Commentary
One of the key investors, Yamaki Hidehiro from Sumitomo Venture Partners, commented on his transformative experience using "Mado" for the first time.
>"I vividly remember the impact of speaking with Sakai for the first time through 'Mado.' The sensation of losing all sense of distance while in conversation was bewildering. This innovative communication method resonates deeply with us at Sumitomo Venture Partners, and we are excited to contribute to expanding this product and service. I look forward to being part of MUSVI's journey in creating new avenues for communication that will benefit the Japanese economy and society at large!"
Commitment to a Better Future
MUSVI aims to leverage the funds raised to further develop its platform, focusing on updating technology and expanding its horizons globally. With expectations set high, the company gears itself up for its fifth operational year with plans to introduce new features and capabilities to "Mado."
Through persistence and innovative spirit, MUSVI aspires to create a future where distances are merely numbers, and communication feels as natural as face-to-face interaction. With their unique telepresence solution and a strong backing, the road ahead looks promising for the startup.
