Canva and Monotype Collaborate to Enhance Global Typography with 1,000+ New Fonts

Canva and Monotype Expand Typography Choices for Creators

In a groundbreaking move to enhance the design capabilities of creators globally, Canva has partnered with Monotype Imaging Inc. to add over a thousand new font styles to its platform. This expansion aims to provide a more diverse range of typographic options, particularly for languages and communities that have historically had limited choices.

The collaboration between these two industry leaders is significant, as it increases the total number of font styles available in Canva to more than 3,000. With this extensive library, Canva users can now create designs that truly reflect their cultural identity and linguistic requirements. The new additions focus on languages such as Arabic, Bengali, Hindi, Khmer, Lao, Thai, and Vietnamese, allowing creators to represent their message authentically.

Broader Typographic Choices

The partnership comes at a time when the demand for diverse design styles is on the rise. In 2025 alone, Canva users translated over 17 million designs—a testament to the platform's reach and the importance of accommodating various languages and styles. As content creation continues to grow across different markets, the need for unique fonts that respect linguistic intricacies becomes paramount.

Monotype’s expanded collection includes multiple font families that cater to specific languages, marking significant increases in typographic choice. For instance, the addition includes 99 families in Hindi, comprising 298 different styles; 72 families in Bengali with 237 styles; and 114 families in Vietnamese, attracting 249 styles. Other languages such as Arabic, Khmer, Lao, and Thai have also seen notable increases in available styles.

Highlights from this impressive expansion include:
  • - Basis Grotesque™ Arabic from Colophon Foundry for Arabic typography
  • - Noort Bengali from TypeTogether, catering to Bengali speakers
  • - Shree Devanagari, which provides options for Hindi representations
  • - Seewelai from Anagata Type for Khmer
  • - Handset™ Sans Lao from Monotype for Lao language support
  • - Malila from Cadson Demak for Thai contexts
  • - Brisket Script from Måns Grebäck designed for Vietnamese text
