Special Event Announcement: 50th Anniversary of 'Toward the Terra'

We are thrilled to announce a special event commemorating the 50th anniversary of Keiko Takemiya's masterpiece, the sci-fi manga 'Toward the Terra'. After the release of the forever cherished edition of the first volume on September 30, 2026, we invite you to join us on October 3, 2026, at Ikebukuro HUMAX Cinemas for a unique screening and live talk show.

• - Ticket Price: 5,000 yen

Tickets go on sale both online and at the box office starting September 11, 2026, at 12:00 PM. Please note that there will be no sales at the box office if online tickets are sold out. Discounts or complimentary tickets are not applicable.

The screenings will feature three selected episodes from both the theatrical and TV versions of 'Toward the Terra'. As fans know, the piece, originally created in 1977, addressed themes that remain profoundly relevant, such as environmental destruction and the implications of a managed society dependent on technology.

Theatrical Version (1980)
Directed by Hisao Onchi, this adaptation showcases a future where humanity faces consequences from environmental degradation, leading to a society where the new race of humans known as 'Mew' faces oppression. Key characters include Jomy Marquis Shin, who embarks on a journey alongside Soldier Blue to challenge the elite system and fight for coexistence.
TV Series (2007)
This series re-animated the original narrative with new directors and a fresh approach. It posed challenging questions about justice and hope, set against the backdrop of a dystopian future.
