GAC's Remarkable Achievement: Eight Awards at 2026 China-SAE Science and Technology Awards
GAC's 8 Award Wins at the 2026 China-SAE Science and Technology Awards
On October 28, 2026, GAC, a leading automotive manufacturer, garnered significant recognition at the China-SAE Science and Technology Award ceremony, held in Suzhou, Jiangsu. The company achieved an impressive total of eight awards, four of which were first prizes. This accomplishment underscores GAC's commitment to technical innovation across various domains in the automotive industry, including automotive chips, electric drives, vehicle safety, intelligent driving governance, and body design.
Highlights from the Awards
GAC's achievements at the awards ceremony are a testament to their collaborative efforts and dedicated research in the automotive sector. Among the first prize winners were two projects led by GAC, along with two projects they participated in. Additionally, their work on a noteworthy project that secured the second prize involved advanced safety systems developed in collaboration with Tsinghua University.
Advancements in Automotive Chips
In the realm of automotive chips, GAC led a project that established a comprehensive chain from the vehicle definition phase to large-scale application. The initiative involved collaboration with 105 partners, resulting in the implementation of nearly 400 different chip models, incorporating over 1,000 domestically produced chips. Notably, GAC launched the HYPTEC GT Special Edition, recognized as China's first Intelligent Connected Vehicle (ICV) that features 100% domestically designed chips. This achievement is a significant milestone in promoting local innovation and sovereignty in technology.
Innovations in Electric Drive Technology
GAC has also led the charge in electric drive technology, being the only company in the world to mass-produce automotive motors using amorphous alloy stators and carbon-fiber high-speed rotors. This innovation has paved the way for enhanced motor efficiency, achieving a remarkable 99.03% peak efficiency and a power density of 17.29 kW/kg at 1000V. The design, incorporating components as thin as 0.025 mm, promises energy savings and improved vehicle range, increasing by up to 50 km on the same battery capacity. This technology has already been integrated into several GAC models, including HYPTEC, AION, and AISTALAND, and is being promoted to other automotive manufacturers.
Enhancements in Vehicle Safety
A key aspect of GAC's award-winning projects lies in vehicle safety. The second prize-winning project, developed alongside Tsinghua University, introduced China’s first ASIL-D fully domestic safety controller. This system provides real-time risk quantification and integrates sophisticated safety features such as active suspension for side-impact mitigation and a rear-window airbag. Importantly, their innovative
