First Community Credit Union Makes Major Commitment to Alief ISD with $1 Million Investment

First Community Credit Union Makes $1 Million Commitment to Alief ISD

In a significant move to support education in the local community, First Community Credit Union (FCCU) has announced a long-term commitment of $1 million to the Alief Independent School District (ISD). This dedication emphasizes FCCU's unwavering belief in the importance of education as a cornerstone for community growth and development.

A Focus on Education and Community Impact

The investment will be distributed as $100,000 annually over the next ten years, directly benefiting the district's educational programs. Notably, half of this annual commitment, which amounts to $50,000, will be allocated to the Alief ISD Education Foundation. This strategic investment aims to ensure a consistent and substantial impact across various educational initiatives.

"Alief ISD holds a special place within the First Community family," stated TJ Tijerina, President and CEO of First Community Credit Union. He emphasized that the commitment represents more than just financial support. Many members and employees of First Community have connections to Alief, underscoring the bank's dedication to fostering a thriving community.

The commitment stems from First Community's long-standing relationship with Alief and the belief that robust educational institutions are fundamental to nurturing strong communities. The funds directed toward Alief ISD will bolster academic programs, enhance educational departments, and support district-wide initiatives that promote student learning and assist educators in their teaching efforts. Additionally, it will aid in developing forward-thinking opportunities, such as the upcoming Young Women's Leadership School set to launch in the fall of 2026.

Investing in the Future

Tijerina further commented on the essential nature of long-term partnerships, indicating that such sustained financial commitments allow Alief ISD to plan effectively and maintain programs that significantly impact both students and teachers. He also highlighted a pivotal component of the investment — a portion of $500,000 earmarked for the Alief ISD Education Foundation. This foundation plays a crucial role in expanding educational prospects that extend beyond conventional funding mechanisms, focusing on inventive classroom projects, student enrichment programs, and educator-led initiatives designed to elevate learning outcomes district-wide.

"The Alief ISD Education Foundation is vital in converting resources into tangible educational opportunities," Tijerina remarked. "We proudly support their endeavors, ensuring educators possess the necessary tools to inspire students and help them realize their full potential."

Dr. Anthony Mays, Superintendent of Alief ISD, echoed the sentiment, expressing heartfelt gratitude toward First Community for their generous and enduring commitment. "This significant investment will create meaningful and lasting benefits for our students and the educational environment we provide."

Dee Jones from Alief ISD also highlighted the mutual respect and value that First Community adds to the partnership, emphasizing the positive impact this investment will have on educational excellence throughout the district.

A Vision for a Brighter Tomorrow

This landmark partnership underscores First Community's conviction that education is essential for building thriving communities. The collaboration with Alief ISD and the Education Foundation signals a commitment to fostering educational growth and enhancing opportunities for students, teachers, and families in Alief for generations to come.
