In a remarkable act of corporate responsibility, Kurita Group, headquartered in Nakano, Tokyo, has made a substantial donation of ¥200 million (approximately 1.3 million USD) to Akishima City. This contribution was directed towards a project titled "Creating a Richer and Safer Community where Residents Can Continue to Live with Peace of Mind". Utilizing the Corporate Version of the Furusato Tax System, this donation is aimed at enhancing the living standards and community development in the region.

The donation ceremony took place on May 28 at the Akishima City Hall, where the Mayor of Akishima, Shunsuke Usui, presented a certificate of appreciation to Kurita's Executive Officer and Rugby Team Manager, Hideo Shiroide. This event marked a significant milestone in the partnership between Kurita and Akishima City, showcasing the company's commitment to regional development and community well-being.

Akishima City has been home to the Kurita Group's rugby team since 2018, when they relocated their base to this vibrant city. In 2021, following the establishment of the Japan Rugby League One, the team adopted the name "WG Akishima" and continues to actively engage with the community. The team's integration with the local environment has been further bolstered by the opening of the Kurita Innovation Hub (KIH) in April 2022, which serves as a center for research and innovation for the Kurita Group.

At KIH, the company hosts tours for local elementary and middle school students, allowing them to learn about innovation and technology in an engaging manner. Additionally, WG Akishima conducts rugby clinics on a field adjacent to KIH, promotes community cleanliness initiatives, and organizes various events to strengthen bonds with local residents.

Looking ahead, Kurita Group plans to solidify its ties with Akishima City by entering into a comprehensive partnership agreement in April 2024. This agreement will focus on facilitating regional revitalization, promoting educational and cultural activities, supporting sports initiatives, and fostering a community aligned with environmental symbiosis.
