Reflection on Environment and Energy at the Cosmo Earth Conscious Act Clean Campaign in Kakegawa

On November 16, 2023, Cosmo Energy Holdings, led by President Shigeru Yamada, organized the Cosmo Earth Conscious Act Clean Campaign in Kakegawa city, Shizuoka Prefecture. This event aimed to raise awareness about the protection of the environment and promote sustainable living, in alignment with the company’s philosophy of harmony between Earth, humanity, and society. Collaborating with TOKYO FM and local FM stations, the initiative attracted around 200 participants, including local residents and K-MIX listeners.

Notable athletes, such as Yoshiko Sugiura, a gold medalist in cycling at the Tokyo and Paris Paralympics, and Nagisa Miura, a sailor thriving in the local winds, participated in the clean-up efforts. Their involvement served as an encouragement for the community to take environmental issues personally. Joining them were K-MIX personalities, such as Kazuhito Makimura, who hosts a weekly program dedicated to the Earth Conscious Act.

Together at Kuniyasu Beach, they led a clean-up campaign that successfully removed 4,635 liters of waste from the area. After the clean-up, a talk show and quiz session followed, providing insights into Kakegawa's efforts to reduce waste – noted as having the second-lowest waste disposal amount among municipalities in its category, as noted by the Ministry of the Environment – and into wind energy projects undertaken by Cosmo Ecopower.

The event culminated in a reflection session where participants exchanged messages about their commitments to the future. Sugiura urged everyone to contribute to reducing waste as not only a way to tackle environmental challenges but also to support household savings.

The Cosmo Earth Conscious Act encourages individuals to embrace a lifestyle that is gentle on both the Earth and themselves, creating a more sustainable future. Looking ahead, Cosmo Energy Holdings plans to continue organizing clean campaigns across the country into the fiscal year 2025.

The initiative not only highlights the importance of cleaning our environment but also educates participants on the broader implications of sustainable living. By taking meaningful actions towards environmental awareness, the hope is to inspire communities to take ownership of their ecological responsibilities.
