Recruit Staffing Celebrates Silver Award for LGBTQ+ Initiatives
Recruit Staffing, headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, led by CEO Tomoki Tanaka, has proudly announced its achievement of the Silver Award in the
2025 PRIDE Index. This award, given by the voluntary organization
work with Pride, evaluates companies on their initiatives concerning LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer) inclusivity in the workplace. Remarkably, this marks the sixth consecutive year that Recruit Staffing has received this honor.
Commitment to Sexual Minority Initiatives
With the vision of creating a society where everyone can work in ways that reflect their true selves, Recruit Staffing has implemented various initiatives aimed at fostering an inclusive environment free from barriers related to sexual orientation and gender identity. Here are some key efforts made by the company:
- - Official Partner Application System: Recognizing the importance of equal rights, Recruit Staffing has introduced a system allowing employees in same-sex or common-law partnerships to apply for benefits (such as bereavement leave and caregiver/family care leave) that are typically reserved for spouses and their families.
- - LGBTQ+ Awareness Training: The company has developed a web-based video training program titled “Let’s Know LGBTQ+”, accessible to both employees and over one million registered temporary staff, aimed at increasing understanding and awareness surrounding LGBTQ+ issues.
- - Rainbow Month: Every June, the company observes Rainbow Month to educate employees and the wider community on the importance of acceptance and respect for diversity. The initiative encourages discussions around SOGI (sexual orientation and gender identity) and aims to increase the number of allies supporting the LGBTQ+ community.
- - Use of Preferred Names: Recruit Staffing allows employees to use their preferred names, based on their self-identified gender identity, in official company settings, including employee ID cards, regardless of their legal name.
- - Community Engagement: The company facilitates social gatherings for LGBTQ+ individuals and allies through a community called COLORs, which welcomes participation from both current and former employees across group companies.
- - External Support Channels: An external consultation window staffed by experienced advisors is available for LGBTQ+ employees, providing support regarding workplace challenges.
- - Support for Marriage Equality: Recruit Staffing supports initiatives like Business for Marriage Equality, advocating for the recognition of equal marriage rights.
- - LGBTQ+ Equality in Business Advocacy: The company endorses the Business Support for LGBT Equality in Japan, aiming for the enactment of LGBTQ+ equality legislation.
