This momentous occasion brought together over 50,000 employees from 50 different countries, united under the theme of inclusion and sustainability. The event showcased Beko's commitment to driving collective action toward achieving the SDGs while fostering a culture of sustainability within its corporate framework.
Integrating Sustainability into Corporate Culture
With sustainability embedded in every aspect of its operations—from product design to corporate governance—Beko Day served as a testament to the company's dedication to these principles. Zeynep Özbil, Beko's Chief Global Communications Executive Director, emphasized that the SDGs act as a shared roadmap for a better future. Through events like Beko Day, the company ensures that these ambitions translate into actionable strategies integrated into its corporate culture. Özbil noted, "The incredible participation across 50 countries conveys a clear message that connecting our employees to the SDGs is essential for creating an authentic sustainability narrative at Beko."
Thought-Provoking Sessions for a Sustainable Future
The event kicked off with inspiring words from CEO Hakan Bulgurlu, followed by four impactful sessions designed to encourage reflection and action. Key speakers discussed various topics, including how to transition from promises to tangible results in the pursuit of the 2030 SDGs. They also reflected on three decades of sustainability advancements and highlighted how Beko’s technologies contribute to these goals. The discussions underscored that sustainability at Beko transcends technology, focusing on collaboration, accountability, and shared value creation.
Local Actions Making a Global Impact
Beko Day sparked local communities across the globe into action, with teams from Turkey to the UK and Pakistan to Poland implementing creative initiatives aligned with selected SDGs. In Turkey, employees hosted a lively exchange day, swapping toys, school supplies, and decorative items to support SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production. They also crafted birdhouses to enhance local biodiversity, echoing SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.
In the UK, a cake sale raised funds and awareness for cancer research, supporting SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, alongside contributions toward SDG 2: Zero Hunger through charitable donations. Other regions, including Singapore and Poland, organized movement and stretching sessions promoting well-being, aligning with SDG 3. In Thailand, employees celebrated SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation with a “Save Paper, Save the Earth” campaign, raising awareness about responsible resource use at work.
These initiatives exemplified how local actions can collectively foster a lasting global impact.
Creativity and Community at the Forefront
The celebrations highlighted the creativity and collaboration of Beko’s employees. Colleagues worldwide participated in the Beko Day Global Quiz, engaging dynamically with sustainability goals and initiatives. The Tagline Contest inspired original ideas, with winning entries encapsulating themes of equality, innovation, and sustainable living, which will be woven into Beko's ongoing sustainability narrative.
Through a shared digital platform, teams from the 50 countries exchanged reflections, photos, and ideas, turning the day into a true celebration of connection and creativity—the essence of Beko's culture in bringing the SDGs to life in a meaningful way.
