CPKC's Recent Tentative Collective Agreements



On November 5, 2025, Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) revealed that it has successfully negotiated 13 new tentative collective agreements with various unions representing employees throughout the United States. This monumental achievement signifies a collaborative effort between CPKC and its union leaders, aimed at improving the working conditions and financial well-being of railroad employees across several states.

Details of the Agreements



The agreements involve a diverse group of workers, including carmen, hostlers, laborers, clerks, maintenance employees, and supervisors in the mechanical and engineering sectors. Specifically, six of the collective agreements – each spanning a period of five years – were reached with the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen. These agreements will benefit approximately 228 carmen employed across properties such as the Delaware & Hudson, Soo Line, Kansas City Southern, MidSouth, SouthRail, and TexMex.

In addition, five tentative agreements have been successfully negotiated with both the Transportation Communications Union (TCU/IAM) and the American Railway and Airway Supervisors Association (ARASA). This category of agreements covers clerks, maintenance workers, and supervisors, impacting around 105 employees working on the Delaware & Hudson, Soo Line, and Kansas City Southern properties.

Moreover, two other agreements with the National Conference of Firemen and Oilers (NCFO) represent approximately 30 hostlers and laborers on the Soo Line and Kansas City Southern properties.

CPKC President and CEO, Keith Creel, expressed satisfaction with reaching these agreements, emphasizing the positive impact they will have on the lives of many railroad workers. He stated, "We are pleased to have reached these tentative collective agreements offering increased wages to hundreds of our railroaders across the United States. Geographic Scope



The employees represented by the unions involved in these agreements are spread across several states, including Illinois, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, New York, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Texas, and Wisconsin. This multi-state approach underscores CPKC’s commitment to enhancing labor relations and ensuring fair treatment for railroad workers nationwide.

Next Steps



These tentative agreements are now pending ratification by the membership of the respective unions. Upon approval, they will formalize the changes promised in the negotiations, paving the way for improved compensation and work environments for CPKC's dedicated employees.
