Background
JR Freight supports Japan’s economic activities by transporting goods nationwide. However, as their operations are primarily B2B-focused, building a connection with younger consumers, particularly Gen Z, has been a significant challenge. To bridge this gap, CGO Dotcom and JR Freight collaborated over a year and a half, leading to a joint exploration process. The phrase
“JR Freight carries not only goods but also good vibes” emerged from this collaboration, serving as a core concept for the event.
Event Highlights
1.
Gyaru Prayer Experience (1000 yen, includes an amulet)
Visitors could engage in a personalized prayer session with Gyaru priestesses. The Gyaru priestesses emphasized positive affirmations and empowerment. At the end of the session, participants collectively shouted
“Bye-bus Age”, lifting any negative energy. Attendees received an amulet keychain crafted from upcycled JR Freight uniforms as a memorable token from the experience.
2.
Love Booster Fortune Experience (Free)
Participants received fortunes that supported positive affirmations regarding love, passion, and self-appreciation, presented in Gyaru-style positivity. These fortunes were tied to a white tree, which began to blossom like cherry trees over time, symbolizing the growth of the messages shared.
3.
Photo Spots and Shooting Areas
The venue featured numerous photogenic spots, including pink torii gates and backgrounds showcasing the JR Freight logo. The design strategically incorporated these backdrops to encourage visitors to share their experiences on social media, enhancing the visibility of JR Freight.
Media Coverage Success
The event garnered considerable media attention, with coverage from more than
20 outlets across various platforms. JR Freight officials commented on the event, remarking,
“The unexpected theme of Gyaru Shrine attracted a surprisingly diverse crowd, from younger audiences to families, allowing us to engage with an array of individuals directly.”
The project successfully created an approach to connect with Gen Z through the lens of
upcycling, effectively addressing contemporary consumer interests and challenges. CGO Dotcom continues to focus on combining
social issues and
Gyaru culture to elevate societal vibes further.
