Starting June 11, 2023, the iconic Nishinomiya Hankyu will play host to an extraordinary exhibition featuring the whimsical world of woodblock prints created by the talented artist, Chisa Fujioka. Known affectionately as the ‘squirrel artist,’ Fujioka is celebrated for her heartwarming depictions of these charming creatures. The exhibition, titled "Chisa Fujioka Woodblock Print Exhibition: The Squirrels of Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter," promises to be a feast for the eyes.

Fujioka's work beautifully marries the intricate art of woodblock printing with her playful imagination. Attendees can expect a stunning collection of prints, including handmade pieces and unique original artworks. Each print is infused with warmth and character, featuring themes that resonate with love and nostalgia.

Among the highlights of the exhibition are works inspired by seasonal motifs, including "Tulip Bouquet", "Love Abounds", and the captivating "Kogamo and Daffodils". Meet the Artist


Fans of Chisa Fujioka will have a unique opportunity to meet the artist in person on June 14 and 15 from 2 PM to 4 PM. The first 100 customers who purchase her artwork will be eligible to receive a hand-signed illustration color sheet, providing a cherished keepsake from this enchanting event.

Background on Chisa Fujioka


Graduating in 2000 with a degree in Western Painting from Joshibi University of Art and Design, Fujioka began her illustrious career by designing packaging for the renowned Tokyo pastry shop, Saikotei, from 2001 to 2018. Her adorable squirrel illustrations quickly gained popularity, solidifying her reputation as the ‘squirrel artist’ in Japan. In December 2021, she gained further acclaim for designing menu covers for the Italian wine and café restaurant, Saizeriya, captivating the public with her delightful art.

Currently, Fujioka is not only showcasing her works through exhibitions in department stores across Japan but also exploring various fields as an illustrator. Her published works include an illustrated poetry collection titled “The Squirrels of Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter” and a children’s book, “Lily and Nuts: A Christmas in Snow”, both of which highlight her storytelling ability through artwork.
