Thunes Bridges Traditional Finance and Digital Assets
In a transformative move for international monetary transfers, Thunes has introduced a groundbreaking solution, allowing banks worldwide to make instant payments to stablecoin wallets via their existing Swift connections. This development, termed the "Pay-to-Stablecoin-Wallets" system, signifies a substantial stride towards interoperability, enabling approximately 11,500 institutions within the Swift network to send real-time payments to over 500 million stablecoin wallets globally, without necessitating additional integration efforts.
Thunes is effectively creating a bridge between conventional fiat currencies and the burgeoning ecosystem of digital assets. This innovative approach combines the security and reliability of the widely recognized Swift infrastructure with the flexibility of Thunes' Direct Global Network, as well as the speed and transparency provided by blockchain-based stablecoins.
Launched in October 2025, Thunes' Pay-to-Stablecoin-Wallets solution supports USDC and USDT formats, facilitating instant, round-the-clock cross-border payments in over 140 countries. Whether it’s a salary payment, remittances to families, or business transfers, individuals can now transition effortlessly from bank accounts to stablecoin wallets, granting recipients immediate fund access, which offers greater stability and resilience against the volatility associated with local currencies.
This framework aligns with Thunes’ ongoing mission to connect financial institutions securely to its Direct Global Network using existing Swift connections. Prior successes include the deployment of the "Pay-to-Bank" and "Pay-to-Wallet" solutions. By integrating stablecoin rails into the existing fiat infrastructure, Thunes is set to establish global standards for real-time and borderless payments that cater to customer demands.
Chloé Mayenobe, the Deputy CEO of Thunes, commented on this significant milestone in cross-border transactions: "By merging the secure global banking infrastructure of Swift with Thunes' payment solutions, we are entering a new era of money movement worldwide. Banks can now instantly transfer value across any medium—be it fiat or stablecoin—within a reliable and compliant network, using their existing Swift connections. Thunes is enabling borderless, digital payments while progressing our vision of connecting the next billion users to the global economy."
The Pay-to-Wallet solution from Thunes relies on their SmartX treasury system, which ensures seamless liquidity from fiat to stablecoin, paired with the Fortress compliance platform, which guarantees end-to-end security and traceability.
Elie Bertha, Chief Product Officer at Thunes, elaborated that with just a single Swift message, any bank can now execute instantaneous payments to numerous key destinations, including wallets, banks, and stablecoin wallets globally, without additional complexity or integration barriers. This represents the pinnacle of interoperability, linking banks, wallets, and digital currencies through a basic connection.
This innovative capability is anticipated to catalyze the transition of stablecoin from being merely an innovation to its widespread acceptance, addressing the urgent demands of customers and solving real issues faced by millions, both individuals and businesses alike, due to currency volatility as well as the growing need for faster payments and access to stronger currencies.
