Unveiling a New Era of Dinosaur Exhibitions
In an exciting collaboration, DNP Corporation has partnered with Fukui Prefectural University’s Dinosaur Department to host an innovative exhibition titled
"Fascinating Dinosaur Exhibition". Set to run from
March 20 to June 20, 2026, at the DNP Plaza in
Ichigaya, Tokyo, this exhibition aims to elevate the way we experience and learn about dinosaurs.
This initiative stems from a cooperative agreement established in
2025 between DNP and the Dinosaur Department, focusing on advancing collaboration in the field of paleontology. The exhibition is designed not just to share information but to transform traditional viewing into a multi-dimensional learning experience by integrating DNP’s expression technologies with academic insights from the university.
Interactive Experiences Await
As part of the exhibition’s lineup, visitors can look forward to several interactive features:
Fossil Displays and Digital Integration
Debuting at this exhibition is a collection of actual fossil specimens, including an
Allosaurus skull and limb bones, supervised by academic experts from the university. Utilizing
Augmented Reality (AR), these fossils come to life—when visitors scan the specimens with their smartphones, a full-body skeleton is superimposed onto the display, creating an engaging learning environment.
Showcasing Research and Collaboration
The exhibition will also highlight key research findings from the Dinosaur Department alongside valuable specimens, demonstrating the synergy between DNP’s presentation techniques and the academic rigor of the university. Visitors will have the opportunity to pose questions and discover how these advancements could redefine the future of dinosaur exhibitions.
MR Experience of Giant Dinosaurs
From
April 20, an immersive
Mixed Reality (MR) experience will enable guests to walk around and admire colossal dinosaurs within a virtual environment, enhancing the lifelike experience of encountering these magnificent creatures.
Virtual Campus Experience
Starting in
May, visitors will be able to explore the soon-to-be-established
Katsuyama Campus, set to open in
April 2026, through a highly detailed, recreative virtual space employing state-of-the-art
3D Gaussian Splatting technology.
Highlight of Collaborative History
Attendees can delve into the history of past exhibitions at DNP Plaza from
2023 and 2025, showcasing some of the earlier displayed items and reflecting on the journey of collaboration between the two entities.
Message Board and Book Corner
The exhibition will also feature a dedicated message corner titled
"Messages from Those Involved with Dinosaurs," showcasing words of encouragement and inspiration from notable figures in dinosaur research for young dinosaur enthusiasts. Additionally, a special section highlighting books related to dinosaurs and paleontology will be available for visitors to explore.
