Kasai Rinkai Park's Flower and Light Movement
From August 1 to 17, 2025, Tokyo's Kasai Rinkai Park will host a stunning event known as the Flower and Light Movement, inviting visitors to connect with nature and life.
Although the park is located close to the city center, it provides a breathtaking view of the sky and sea. This summer, the park will showcase a beautiful sunflower field featuring 40,000 sunflowers. Each evening from 6 PM to 8:30 PM, an art installation titled
"Peace to the Sunflowers" by renowned artist Tatsuo Miyajima will illuminate the sunflower field with a remarkable combination of light and art.

The Sunflower Field
The sunflower field spans approximately 3,800 square meters and features three varieties of sunflowers:
Sonia,
Valentine, and
Haruka's Sunflower (Fukko Sunflower). During the day, the tall sunflowers stand proud, reaching for the sun and offering plenty of opportunities for stunning photographs, including backdrops with the park's iconic Ferris wheel. At night, the sunflowers present a unique sight enhanced by light installations, showcasing a different perspective.
Art Installation by Tatsuo Miyajima
The event features the significant artwork of
Tatsuo Miyajima which explores themes of life, eternity, and interconnectedness. The installation uses digital counters to represent the flow of time and life, reflecting the deep relationship between humanity and nature. 29 digital counters, diminishing from 9 to 1, symbolize the preciousness of each life.
Artist Profile
Tatsuo Miyajima (born 1957) is a contemporary artist who gained international recognition at the 1988 Venice Biennale. Since then, he has participated in numerous exhibitions worldwide. His works frequently use digital technology and convey profound philosophical themes through contemporary art.

Seed Paper Gift
As part of the event concept, there will be a special seed paper designed by Tatsuo Miyajima for visitors to take home. Crystal View area will be open from 9 AM to 7 PM, enabling visitors to enjoy the sunset views. Additionally, food stalls will be present on-site, offering light refreshments.
