A Sensory Journey through Brazilian Culture
In a beautiful fusion of art, nature, and fragrance, Sol de Janeiro is set to unveil its immersive installation titled
'Jardim Sol de Janeiro: A Garden for the Senses' during
Art Basel Miami Beach 2024, held from
December 4 to 8. This event takes place at the
Miami Beach Botanical Garden and promises to transport visitors into the vibrant essence of Brazil. Combining the delightful aromas of their iconic
Cheirosa perfume mists with the creativity of emerging Brazilian artists, the installation is an homage to the splendor of Brazilian culture.
Collaboration with Local Artists
Sol de Janeiro has partnered with
Niege Borges, Barbara Tamilin, and
Amanda Lobos, three dynamic Brazilian female artists who contribute their unique perspectives to this sensory experience. Each artist has reinterpreted the iconic
'orelhões', or 'big ears', which are distinctive phone booths found throughout Rio de Janeiro. Espousing elements of Brazilian identity, these booths have taken on a contemporary artistic flare at the event, showcasing original artworks that echo the inspiration behind Sol de Janeiro's beloved fragrances.
Heela Yang, Co-Founder and CEO of Sol de Janeiro, describes the event as,
“a magical connection between art and fragrance”, inviting everyone to immerse themselves in the beauty and energy of Brazil. The vibrant, interactive setup will allow guests to engage with art, fragrance, and community through multiple sensory experiences.
A Celebration of Fragrance and Culture
Each perfume mist captures a historic moment in Brazilian culture, and visitors will explore stories that breathe life into the scents.
Cheirosa 62 is an embodiment of the allure of Rio's beaches, with rich notes of
pistachio, salted caramel, and
vanilla, inspired by the nostalgia of the
'Girl from Ipanema' in 1962. Conversely,
Cheirosa 68 reflects the exuberance of the
Tropicalia movement, featuring
Brazilian jasmine, pink dragonfruit, and
sheer vanilla—echoing the cultural revolutions of 1968. Meanwhile,
Cheirosa 59 celebrates the joyful spirit of Brazilian
bossa nova, inviting wearers to relive the moments surrounding
João Gilberto’s first album in 1959.
A Commitment to Sustainability
Acknowledging environmental responsibility, Sol de Janeiro's installation incorporates
eco-friendly practices with locally sourced materials. At the conclusion of the event, all remaining floral displays will be donated to local Miami organizations, reinforcing the brand's commitment to making a positive impact in the community.
