Innovative Mother's Day Event Offers Heartfelt Beauty Care Experience for Seniors

Innovative Mother's Day Event to Celebrate Seniors

On May 9, 2026, just before Mother's Day, Miraiproject, located in Shibuya, Tokyo, will host a unique event that transforms the way we celebrate our beloved mothers. This initiative will provide beauty care for 40 elderly individuals, symbolizing a shift from traditional material gifts to experiences that nourish the heart and soul.

Miraiproject, known for its elder care beauty training school, the Care Beauty Institute, emphasizes the importance of heartfelt gifts that not only fulfill a physical need but also enhance emotional well-being. The event is being organized by graduates from the institute, known as 'Care Beauticians,' who have previously faced the challenges of being young caregivers themselves. These empathetic individuals understand both sides of care—the one who gives and the one who receives.

Unique Experience for Seniors

On the event day, a makeup and photo session will take place at a senior living facility in Chiba Prefecture. The graduates, along with six volunteers sharing the same vision, will help elevate the self-esteem of these seniors, encouraging them to rediscover their confidence and smile through the art of beauty.

This initiative goes beyond just a simple gift from family; it represents a social movement aimed at providing seniors with the enriching experiences they deserve. The concept of gifting care and beauty experiences is gaining traction. Recent studies reveal that as individuals age, they appreciate gifts focusing on emotional support, such as assistance with household chores and heartfelt expressions of gratitude, rather than physical objects. This aligns perfectly with the mission of the Care Beauty Institute, which responds to the growing demand for emotional wellness through care.

A Shift in Gifting Trends

Recent research indicates that gifting trends for Mother’s Day are evolving. Many people now prefer to gift experiences that alleviate daily burdens or foster emotional connections. As a result, the demand for beauty care services tailored to the elderly is increasing. A groundbreaking success at Miraiproject saw beauty tickets sold for approximately 20,000 yen in Osaka, highlighting families' desires to present their mothers with moments of joy and beauty.

Heartfelt Cases of Care

There are numerous touching stories showcasing the profound impact of care beauty services. For instance, a son living afar chose to gift a beauty ticket to his terminally ill mother. The hand and nail care he organized bed-side turned into a cherished moment, showcasing the beauty of human connection. Watching her nails transformed made her smile radiate, proving the emotional depth beauty can create beyond its surface.
