Discover the New Orchestra Experience in the Music Town of Suginami

Experience a Musical Journey in Suginami

Mark your calendars for March 29, 2026! The Japan Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra is set to host its annual Orchestra Exploration event at the Suginami Public Hall. This year, the venue transforms into a vibrant ‘Music Town,’ offering families and children an engaging experience from start to finish.

A Family-Friendly Event

The Orchestra Exploration is designed for audiences of all ages, welcoming children as young as zero years old. This event allows families to dive into the world of orchestral music, making it an exciting outing for kids during their spring break. With a creative layout resembling a bustling marketplace, children are encouraged to explore various ‘shops’ that capture their curiosity with music.

The event will culminate in an exhilarating orchestral concert featuring beloved classical pieces. Expect to hear Tchaikovsky’s “March” from The Nutcracker Suite and Sibelius’s Finlandia, performed by the talented conductor Kazuki Wada with storytelling by Ami Ishii. This concert aims to introduce children to iconic orchestral works, providing an unforgettable musical experience.

Interactive Musical Experiences

Before the orchestral concert, a series of engaging activities will be available:
  • - Relay Solo Concert by members of the Japan Philharmonic, showcasing their individual talents.
  • - Workshops inspired by the concert program, allowing kids to learn more about the instruments and music.
  • - A thrilling Stamp Rally throughout the Suginami Public Hall, encouraging children to discover various aspects of music in a playful manner.

These activities promise to ignite children’s senses and foster a love for music. Through hands-on experiences, participants will not just witness music but actively feel and engage with it.
