Watami's Affordable Meal Delivery Service Surpasses One Million Meals Sold

Watami's Affordable Meal Delivery Breaks One Million Meals Mark

Watami Corporation, headquartered in Ota City, Tokyo, has announced that its meal delivery service, "Watami no Takushoku," has successfully surpassed one million meals sold within just two months of launching its new meal option, "Yoi Hi no Gozen," which targets the elderly demographic. This achievement showcases the rapid adoption of the service since its nationwide debut on October 6, 2025.

The ongoing inflation affecting more than 20,000 food items in 2025 and anticipated price hikes in an additional 4,000 items by April 2026 have significantly impacted seniors living on pensions. As they strive to maintain a healthy diet, affordable meal options have become more critical than ever. Therefore, the new meal from Watami, priced at just 450 yen (tax included) per meal, aims to alleviate the dietary pressures faced by seniors aged 75 and above. Each dish, developed under the supervision of registered dietitians, ensures nutritional balance and taste, making it easy for many customers to choose this affordable option.

Balancing Affordability and Quality

In this era of rising food costs, Watami has invested significant effort over two years into developing "Yoi Hi no Gozen" to provide both affordability and quality. Here's how they achieved this balance:

1. Sourcing
Watami has expanded its sourcing channels globally to procure delicious yet economical ingredients. By reviewing the raw material supply process and preparing meals in-house, they have successfully lowered ingredient costs.

2. Manufacturing
With investments in production facilities, they enhanced their heating and cooling systems to focus on flavor. This enables them to produce six meals over just two days, achieving high productivity and maintaining their competitive pricing.

3. Logistics
Careful examination of ingredient choices, recipe variations, and container formats has ensured food safety and taste, while also extending shelf life. This improvement allows for bulk deliveries of three days' worth of meals, helping to reduce delivery costs further.

Product Overview of "Yoi Hi no Gozen"

"Yoi Hi no Gozen" delivers a nutritious, daily-changing menu curated with oversight from registered dietitians. Utilizing their proprietary "Watami no Kasanedashi" broth, Watami emphasizes handcrafted production at their facilities to enhance flavor quality. Through an iterative process of recipe testing and sensory evaluations, they have fine-tuned cooking methods and meal combinations ensuring that taste remains intact even with bulk deliveries.

Refund Policy

A full refund is offered to first-time users of Watami no Takushoku or customers who have not used the service for over six months, specifically applicable on “Yoi Hi no O-kazu” and “Yoi Hi no Gozen.” Note that this refund offer may be discontinued without notice and applies only to the initial week's delivery.
