Trust Emerges as the Foremost Priority for Freight Brokers in 2025 According to New Survey

Trust Takes Center Stage for Freight Brokers in 2025

In a world where speed often overshadows caution, trust has emerged as the paramount concern for freight brokers heading into 2025. At the prestigious TIA 2025 Capital Ideas Conference held in San Antonio, Texas from April 9-12, Truckstop introduced findings from its latest Broker Insights Survey, which enlisted insights from over 700 freight brokers. This survey signals a transformative shift in priorities within the freight industry, highlighting trust as the number one challenge faced by brokers in their operations.

As the landscape of freight brokering evolves, the urgency to find reliable carriers has drastically increased. With alarming rates of fraud reported throughout the industry, two-thirds of brokers surveyed identified fraud as a significant obstacle to their work. Most notably, double brokering stands as a primary concern, reported by 86% of brokers who have encountered fraud incidents. Additionally, nearly half of all brokers reported issues related to identity theft and stolen loads, illustrating a growing need for enhanced security measures in their operations.

The survey revealed an interesting trend concerning the volume of operational partnerships brokers maintain. The average brokerage works with approximately 175 carriers monthly, whereas smaller firms, particularly those with fewer than five employees, interact with around 35 carriers. This disparity underscores the challenges brokers face in ensuring trust and reliability in their partnerships.

Kendra Tucker, CEO of Truckstop, articulated the fine balance brokers must navigate between maintaining operational efficiency and ensuring security. "Trust has never been more important," she noted, underscoring the company's commitment to cultivating solutions that foster stronger relationships and minimize opportunities for fraud. Remarkably, Truckstop itself demonstrated a notable success in tackling these issues, reporting a 57% decrease in customer-reported fraud from Q1 2024 to Q1 2025.

During the conference, Truckstop showcased innovations designed to enhance broker operations by improving security and operational efficiency.
