LunaTone Partners with Yonsei University for Strategic MOU
LunaTone Inc., headquartered in Roppongi, Tokyo under CEO Hyun Baro, recently announced the signing of two Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with Yonsei University located in South Korea. The first MOU facilitates a collaboration with the Yonsei-Korean Metaverse Lab (YKML) focusing on joint research and development of educational games. The second MOU aims to establish a framework that connects academic research with practical learning and global mobility of talent through cooperation with the University of California Education Abroad Program (UCEAP). Through these agreements, LunaTone will promote interdisciplinary and cross-border initiatives that include developing capabilities using games, as well as creating international internship opportunities.
Collaboration on Educational Games with YKML
As part of the collaboration with YKML, LunaTone will blend humanities subjects such as Korean language, literature, and culture with game design and interactive storytelling to co-develop educational games and experiential learning content. This initiative will involve running workshops, pilot programs, co-creation efforts, and knowledge-sharing activities. Furthermore, the partnership aims to pave the way for future research presentations and publications. This collaboration strives to create a new educational model based on games that merges academic inquiry with experiential and simulation-based learning.
Creating Global Internship Opportunities through UCEAP
LunaTone also plans to enhance student internship opportunities through the UCEAP linked to relevant programs at Yonsei University. Alongside this, practical learning opportunities will be created for students to participate in international projects. The internships are expected to cover a range of activities aligned with LunaTone's business areas, including educational game development, digital content production, game-based learning projects, research support, and localization. This initiative aims to provide hands-on learning opportunities in an environment where education, creativity, and digital fields intersect, facilitating project-based experiences.
Constructing a Global Capability Development Framework
The two MOUs will establish the groundwork for a broader cross-border capability development framework that promotes synergies between academia, industry, and international talent mobility. By combining Yonsei University's research foundation in humanities and digital fields with LunaTone's expertise in interactive systems and practical learning design, the partnership aims to develop a sustainable and scalable educational model suitable for the generative AI era.
LunaTone's Founder & CEO Hyun Baro stated, "Capability development in the generative AI era must evolve into a more interactive, practical, and globally connected format. This partnership significantly emphasizes creating new learning opportunities that traverse national boundaries by integrating humanities, digital culture, and experiential learning. We aspire to contribute to building more practical and future-oriented learning models that are essential in today's society."
