BCE Inc. Reports Encouraging Q2 2026 Financial Results Driven by Fiber Expansion

BCE Inc. Q2 2026 Financial Results Overview

BCE Inc. has released its financial results for the second quarter of 2026, indicating a solid performance marked by strategic advancements in fiber technology and subscriber growth, despite a slight dip in net earnings compared to the previous year.

Financial Performance Highlights

In this quarter, BCE achieved a commendable 1.5% increase in consolidated revenue, bringing the total to $6,176 million. This was primarily motivated by a 4.3% rise in service revenues, influenced by an expansion in the U.S. markets through its acquisition of Ziply Fiber. Net earnings for the quarter totaled $629 million, reflecting a 2.3% decline year-over-year. Notably, earnings attributable to common shareholders decreased by 3.6%, or $0.60 per common share. However, on the positive side, adjusted net earnings saw a growth of 2%, reaching $604 million, which translated to an adjusted EPS of $0.65, a 3.2% increase.

BCE's EBITDA also saw a steady rise of 1.0%, culminating at $2,702 million. The company experienced an 11% increase in cash flows from operating activities, totaling $2,162 million, but free cash flow dropped by 9.5% to $1,042 million, mainly due to increased capital investments in expanding its technology infrastructure, particularly the Bell AI Fabric data centers in Canada and the rollout of Ziply Fiber's fiber-to-the-premise network in the U.S.

Subscriber Growth and Service Expansion

BCE reported impressive growth in its fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) services. In Q2 2026, the company obtained 54,883 new FTTH Internet subscribers, reflecting an astonishing 14.5% increase from the same quarter last year. This growth resulted in a substantial 14.2% increase in Internet revenues. Furthermore, the postpaid mobile segment also flourished with 41,594 net activations, alongside a postpaid churn rate declining to an impressive 1.02%, marking the lowest level in three years.

The company’s AI-driven solutions have also seen a steep increase in demand. Revenues from its AI divisions, including Ateko and Bell Cyber, surged by 29%, indicating a robust market interest in advanced digital services.

Media and Digital Strategy

BCE's media division, particularly Bell Media, also reported a revenue uptick of 8.9%, aided by significant events like the FIFA World Cup 2026 and the growth of Crave subscription services. Crave subscribers jumped by 23% to approximately 5.07 million, bolstered by a surge in direct-to-consumer streaming. The overall media performance underscores BCE's commitment to cultural sovereignty and enhancing the Canadian storytelling landscape.

In terms of operational investments, BCE continues to expand its wireless and fiber network capabilities, especially in preparation for major events like the World Cup. They launched innovative backup internet solutions integrating both fiber and wireless networks to ensure uninterrupted service during outages, reflecting their dedication to a superior customer experience.

Future Outlook

Looking ahead, BCE has reaffirmed its guidance targets for 2026, projecting revenue growth between 1% and 5%. The strategic focus will remain on enhancing customer experience through innovative technology and leveraging its existing advancements in AI and fiber infrastructure. The firm is also tracking to increase capital expenditures in alignment with its ambitious infrastructure expansion goals.

In summary, while BCE faces some challenges with net earnings, its strong operational efficiency and strategic investments place it well-positioned for sustained growth in the competitive telecommunications sector.
