The 18th Biennale of Contemporary Art in Lyon, running from September 19 to December 13, 2026, continues to be a beacon for contemporary artists, showcasing varied voices and innovative practices. Under the curatorial leadership of Catherine Nichols and the artistic direction of Isabelle Bertolotti, this year's theme, 'To Pass from One Dream to Another', encapsulates the transformative essence of art.

This edition of the Biennale features a remarkable roster of 118 artists, including 45 new entrants, which underlines the event's commitment to diversity in artistic expression. Among these are 68% women artists, a significant representation of 29% French creators, and 23% artists under 35 years of age, indicating a vibrant infusion of fresh perspectives. The artist lineup illustrates a global tapestry with representatives from 42 countries, including Argentina, Aotearoa New Zealand, Cameroon, South Korea, and the United States, to name a few.

Prominent artists include Carla Adra, Yasmeen Al Daya, and Monira Al Qadiri, each contributing to the rich dialogue fostered throughout the Biennale. In addition to their individual works, artists from the 'Jeune création internationale' program will present innovative pieces created under professional exhibition conditions, providing a springboard for emerging talent.

This year’s Biennale marks the inclusion of Cour des Loges, a heritage site in the heart of Lyon's old town, as an eleventh exhibition venue.
