The City Nation Place Global Forum celebrates outstanding branding and marketing practices by countries and city brands worldwide, with over 300 nominations submitted for consideration this year. By implementing AI technologies, Essential Costa Rica aims to enhance the country’s efforts in combating climate change and affirming its dedication to sustainability through what is termed "natural intelligence."

Essential Costa Rica collaborated with Bloom Consulting to structure its Strategy 2035 around four key information blocks: 1) prior studies on brand perception, including digital identity and rankings; 2) strategic documentation concerning initiatives like decarbonization plans; 3) global reports analyzing future trends such as the OECD Economic Outlook; and 4) interviews with various public and private stakeholders to gauge current perceptions and future expectations of Costa Rica.
Utilizing AI for generating projections of possible future media coverage allowed the country to identify areas for image enhancement and global market presence. By anticipating improvement opportunities, Costa Rica can make more informed decisions regarding its branding strategies.
Acosta noted, "We are immensely proud of this recognition, which underlines how we in Costa Rica have harnessed data intelligence to amplify our global influence and position ourselves as a proactive nation in addressing climate change.
