Samaritan's Purse Launches Emergency Surgical Care in Myanmar

Current reports indicate that nearly 100 earthquake victims are already queued for surgical procedures, highlighting the urgent need for expanded medical support in the region.

This significant endeavor began shortly after the catastrophic 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck on March 28, with preliminary reports confirming over 3,500 deaths and thousands more injured or unaccounted for. The dire situation calls for a robust and efficient medical response, and Samaritan's Purse has mobilized its resources to deliver critical emergency care.

To further aid the relief efforts, the organization has coordinated airlifts for essential supplies. A cargo transport plane departed from Greenville, South Carolina, loaded with over 104 tons of vital resources, including six water filtration systems aimed at providing clean drinking water along with hygiene kits, emergency shelter materials, and solar lights.

Currently, over 80 members of the Disaster Assistance Response Team have deployed to Myanmar, with additional personnel scheduled to arrive shortly to amplify the ongoing efforts.
