BrandEd and WIRED Launch Innovative Summer Program for Tech-Savvy College Students

BrandEd and WIRED Introduce WIRED Summer Lab

In an era where technology continuously transforms industries, BrandEd and WIRED have collaborated to launch the WIRED Summer Lab, a dynamic four-week program designed specifically for college students aged 18 and above. This immersive educational experience, scheduled from July 7 to August 1, 2025, in London, provides students an opportunity to engage hands-on with cutting-edge technologies while earning university credits.

A Unique Learning Opportunity

WIRED has established itself as a leading media authority in technological advancements and trends, and with this program, students are positioned to learn from the best in the field. Participants will interact with journalists, startup founders, AI innovators, and digital creators, receiving insights and skills valuable in today's tech landscape. This initiative responds to the growing demand for industry experience prior to graduation, making students more attractive to future employers.

A notable feature of the program is its emphasis on accessibility; it welcomes students from various academic backgrounds and does not require prior technical experience. This inclusive approach has attracted applications from a wide array of disciplines such as business, computer science, pre-medicine, and humanities, highlighting the broad relevance of technology across sectors.

Program Structure and Curriculum

The WIRED Summer Lab is thoughtfully structured into four thematic weeks, each exploring different dimensions of technology and innovation:
1. Introduction to AI and Machine Learning
An overview of AI's foundational concepts, including practical applications in various fields.

2. Design Thinking and Innovation Methodologies
A focus on creative problem-solving techniques to drive innovative design.

3. Digital Storytelling and Content Creation
Students will learn how technology can elevate storytelling in digital formats.

4. Fundamentals of UX Design and User-Centric Interfaces
An exploration of user experience design principles for developing intuitive digital platforms.

Additionally, participants will be educated on coding, ethical considerations in emerging technologies, and career pathways in the tech industry, including future trends like quantum computing and biotechnology. Successful completion of the program will reward participants with 4 university credits, validated by the University of Montana.

Meet the Experts

Greg Williams, the Deputy Global Editorial Director of WIRED and a three-time Technology Editor of the Year as awarded by the British Society of Magazine Editors, is among the distinguished speakers. His involvement promises rich insights into evolving technological landscapes and the societal impacts of innovation. Williams emphasizes, “WIRED Summer Lab is designed for students who are deeply curious about technology and its impact on society. It’s a month-long exploration of what’s next—from AI and IoT to VR/AR and ethical tech—giving participants a front-row seat to the forces shaping our future.”

Scholarship Opportunities

The inaugural cohort is also eligible for merit scholarships, further highlighting the commitment of BrandEd and WIRED to make high-quality education accessible to aspiring tech leaders.
