Connecticut Sun Partners with HOLO Footwear
In a significant move, the Connecticut Sun has officially announced their partnership with HOLO Footwear, making it the team's official footwear sponsor through the 2025 season. This collaboration highlights a shared commitment between the basketball team and the footwear brand to engage fans through exclusive behind-the-scenes content, community initiatives, and interactive giveaways.
Rommel and Yuri Vega, the co-founders of HOLO Footwear, expressed their enthusiasm, stating, "At HOLO, we are not just designing shoes; we are creating pathways towards purpose, community, and impact. Partnering with the Connecticut Sun allows us to advocate these values alongside a franchise that is equally passionate about empowering the next generation." The duo emphasized their pride in supporting Jacy Sheldon, the first WNBA athlete to sign with HOLO, now a dynamic member of the Sun. Her pioneering spirit and dedication to excellence resonate with the brand’s ethos.
One of the primary focuses of this partnership will be community engagement initiatives for the upcoming season. These include three youth basketball clinics, three shoe giveaways, and two special auctions themed "Kicks for a Cause". The community clinics aim to inspire young athletes and will be held at the Mohegan Tribal Community Center and Mohegan Sun Arena this summer. Interested participants can register and find more information on the Connecticut Sun website.
The shoe giveaways will take place during three game days, where randomly selected fans will receive free pairs of shoes. The "Kicks for a Cause" initiative will feature custom-painted shoes auctioned off at key events, specifically Wicked Night on August 1 and Throwback Night on September 6. All proceeds raised through these auctions will be donated to the Connecticut Sun Foundation, supporting various local community initiatives.
To further connect with fans, a series of engaging content featuring Connecticut Sun practices and player Jacy Sheldon will be launched. Sheldon, who is also set to release her flagship shoe, the JS01, is one of only four active WNBA players with a retail shoe line available in stores, marking a significant milestone for both her career and HOLO. The shoe will be officially launched on Dick's Sporting Goods during the WNBA All-Star weekend.
Jen Rizzotti, president of Connecticut Sun, voiced her excitement about the partnership, stating, "We are thrilled to announce our collaboration with HOLO Footwear as our official shoe partner. This partnership transcends performance; it poses an opportunity to promote well-being, celebrate the fusion of fashion and sports, and build a culture that empowers athletes on and off the court. HOLO reflects our deep commitment to community, especially when it comes to inspiring youth. Together, we are creating opportunities that extend beyond the game and leave a lasting impact."
Founded in 2020 in Portland, Oregon, HOLO Footwear was built on the principle of making the outdoors accessible to everyone. The founders believed that sustainable options should not only be affordable but also available to all, similar to the outdoor industry at large. HOLO aims to manufacture high-quality and sustainable footwear for both men and women, catering to various outdoor pursuits.
