On September 6th, 2023, the Globis Graduate School of Management held its entrance ceremony for the English MBA program at its Tokyo campus. In a significant milestone, the program welcomed a record 179 students from 46 different countries and regions, making this year's event the most diverse in terms of both nationality and student numbers since the program's inception.
This year's breakdown shows 91 students enrolling in the full-time MBA program, coming from 31 countries and regions, while the part-time and online MBA program attracted 88 students from 30 countries and regions. Notably, the number of full-time MBA enrollees increased by over 50% compared to the previous year, marking the first time that the number of full-time students exceeded that of part-time and online students.
The increase in admissions is attributed not only to growing interest from students in various regions, including Asia, Europe, and the United States, but also to Globis's effort to enhance the program's diversity.
During the ceremony, Globis President Yoshito Hori delivered an inspiring message to the new students. He emphasized the school's mission to cultivate them into '志のあるリーダー' or 'leaders with ambition.' Hori remarked, 'It is you who will create and transform Japan, Asia, and the world.'
Three representatives from the incoming class shared their thoughts on what brought them to Globis. Yu Yu Wang from Taiwan, who joined the full-time MBA program, posed a thought-provoking question: 'Why are we here? Is it merely to obtain a degree? I believe it's more profound. We are here to challenge ourselves and to encounter people with different mindsets.'
Prince Jonathan Bolampembe Batey from Congo, now a student in the part-time and online MBA program, spoke about his desire to explore diverse perspectives with classmates from various backgrounds. He stated, 'Each individual here has unique stories, cultures, professions, understandings, and dreams. As we navigate our student life, there will be moments of agreement but also instances of deep disagreement. I embrace both outcomes.'
Said Al Shoaili from Oman made his remarks online, highlighting the common title they all share - 'students' - despite their diverse backgrounds and experiences. He asserted, 'We have gathered here from different countries, industries, and cultures. Each full-time or part-time student brings unique experiences, and together, we have a chance to listen, learn, reflect, and transform ourselves.'
The incoming students represent a vast array of nationalities, including:
