SonicWall Reveals Surging Cyber Threats and Urges SMBs to Seek Support

SonicWall's Alarming Cyber Threat Report for 2025

In the wake of evolving cyber threats, SonicWall has issued a stark warning to small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs) in its 2025 Cyber Threat Report. The findings reveal a startling trend: hackers are exploiting new vulnerabilities within an average of just two days, highlighting a significant disparity between the attackers and the defenses of many companies, which can take up to 150 days to deploy necessary patches.

Cyber hackers are not only becoming faster but are also employing more sophisticated methods of attack, including automation and artificial intelligence, placing SMBs at an increased risk of data breaches and ransomware attacks. This shift underscores a crucial point: businesses of all sizes must adapt to this new reality or risk being overwhelmed by these relentless cyber threats.

A Surge in Cyberattacks

SonicWall's analysis revealed that during 2024, organizations faced an alarming average of 68 days under constant critical cyberattack. Notably, ransomware incidents surged by 8% in North America and a staggering 259% in Latin America. Factors contributing to this rise include new attack vectors such as IoT assaults, which climbed 124%, and encrypted threats that jumped by 93%.
