Wpc.'s Vibrant Art Umbrellas: A Collaboration with Heralbony for Change

Wpc.'s New Collection of Artistic Umbrellas

Wpc., the Osaka-based umbrella brand known for its innovative designs, is set to launch a groundbreaking collaboration with Heralbony, a company dedicated to transforming perceptions of disabilities through art. Starting April 10, 2025, five unique art umbrellas will be available for early purchase via Wpc.'s official online shop, directly-operated stores, and in 100 locations of the lifestyle specialty store Loft.

The collaboration theme, "Let it Rain on Me," encapsulates the essence of this partnership, wherein four contract artists from Heralbony showcase their vivid artistic expressions on these vinyl umbrellas. With the mission of spreading the notion that those with disabilities are not limited to assistance but can be business partners, Heralbony empowers artists with intellectual disabilities by licensing their artworks and ensuring they receive fair royalties.

The Artistic Creations

The umbrellas feature designs from:
  • - Yufu Mitani with works titled "Apple Bouquet" and "Chatty Roses"
  • - Kaede Wajima with "Maple Scissors"
  • - Masahiro Fukui's "Field Mustard"
  • - Yukihiro Kokubo with "Morning Glory"

Each umbrella’s handle and piping color have been carefully selected to complement the unique artworks, allowing users to showcase their personality even on gloomy days. This collaboration not only reflects Wpc.'s commitment to turning negativity into positivity through fashion but also highlights Heralbony's dedication to changing perceptions about disabilities through art.

Art as Empowerment

The powerful and unique art pieces serve as sources of inspiration for users, encouraging them to embrace their individuality on rainy days. As the campaign slogan highlights: "Let it Rain on Me," these umbrellas encourage users to walk lightly and joyfully in life, regardless of the weather.

Heralbony aims to foster a sustainable business model that supports artists by providing them with fair compensation. In contrast, the average monthly wage for severely disabled individuals working in employment support facilities remains low, at about 23,053 yen. Through this artistic initiative, Heralbony hopes to generate sustainable revenue that contributes to changing societal perceptions of disabilities.

Looking Ahead

The first drop of these umbrellas will be just a precursor, as Wpc. plans to introduce sun umbrellas in May. Customers are encouraged to look forward to these additional releases, which will further showcase the distinctive artistry combined with practical functionality. As Wpc. seeks to embody this supportive ethos, they aim to promote a culture where everyone, regardless of ability, can thrive through collaboration.

This artistic collaboration is not solely a business venture; it represents a unified effort to enable individuals with disabilities to thrive in a society that recognizes their talents and contributions. By choosing an umbrella that resonates with them, users are not merely participating in an act of consumption but are making a positive statement about inclusivity and empowerment.

As Wpc. invites you to celebrate the beauty of art in everyday life, these umbrellas are a testament to the spirit of agility, individuality, and hope that challenges the conventional narratives surrounding disability. Open your umbrella and step into the new dawn of creativity and self-expression, rain or shine.
