A New Era of Eiken Preparation: Introducing AI Interview Feature
In an exciting development for English learners, the Kodomo Eigo Kenkyujo (Children's English Research Institute) based in Shinjuku, Tokyo, has announced that it will be enhancing its Eiken Online Lesson program. This update will include the innovative AI
Interview feature called
Eiken Online Lesson [Interview]. This new feature aims to provide resources for students preparing for the Eiken (English Proficiency Test) by allowing them to train for the second round of exams from the comfort of their own homes.
The AI Interview feature is designed specifically for levels 3, pre-2, and 2, and it simulates the real examination environment by evaluating various skills including reading, comprehension, illustration description, and opinion expression. Beginning from December 26, learners can start utilizing this cutting-edge technology to improve their English proficiency.
What the AI Interview Feature Offers
The AI system is meticulously programmed to replicate the flow of the Eiken second examination, enabling learners to receive a realistic practicing experience. Students will follow prompts displayed on their screens to record and submit responses to readings and questions. The AI will analyze these recordings in real time and provide feedback on their performance.
For each proficiency level, the structure includes two rounds of eight comprehensive lessons, allowing for in-depth practice with a total of
16 sessions. This systematic training will further enhance students’ skills corresponding to their level.
Key Functionalities
1. Reading aloud English sentences
2. Questions that assess comprehension of content
3. Content-related questions about illustrations
4. Self-referential questions for candidates
5. 16 tailored lessons (8 lessons x 2)
6. PDF textbooks for continued learning
Through practical training, candidates will conceptually engage with topics that could appear in the Eiken interview. Subjects such as
favorite seasons,
school regulations,
extracurricular activities, and
social issues are among the inquiries that require candidates to articulate their opinions in a structured manner throughout the examination.
The Eiken Online Lesson program, with its previously established
writing component, alongside the newly introduced
interview preparation, emphasizes a process called
recursive conceptualization. This involves examining a subject from multiple perspectives, requiring learners to synthesize their viewpoints into a multi-layered argument, enhancing both their writing and speaking skills.
The Importance of Recursive Conceptualization
Recursive conceptualization is not only critical for writing assessments but also essential in responding to questions during interviews. Students need to select discussion points, establish a clear stance, and explain their reasoning with concrete examples—all within a limited time.
The newly added AI Interview function expands this design philosophy into the speaking domain. This enables students to train for interviews directly through a structured dialogue with the AI, fostering an environment where learners can formulate and articulate their thoughts promptly and effectively.
Learners will benefit from repeated practice with the AI, allowing them to strengthen their ability to convey their opinions clearly and succinctly in English. This method of constant interaction will ensure that when the time comes for the actual examination, students will be more than prepared to tackle the challenges of the Eiken interview.
As education continues to evolve—even incorporating advanced technologies—program initiatives like the AI Interview feature stand to play a crucial role in shaping effective language learning environments. The Eiken Online Lesson can be a game-changer for many aspiring English learners, paving their path towards linguistic and communicative proficiency.
