Scotch Secures $20M to Revolutionize Liquor Store Operations and Hits $1 Billion Milestone

Scotch Raises $20 Million to Transform Liquor Retail Operations

In a significant move to modernize the liquor retail industry, Scotch has announced the successful closure of a $20 million Series A funding round. This funding was led by VMG Partners, with notable contributions from First Round Capital, Lerer Hippeau, and Toba Capital. With this capital infusion, Scotch aims to accelerate the development of its innovative point-of-sale (POS) platform and expand its engineering and marketing teams as it works to scale its AI-driven solutions across the nation.

Scotch's platform is a groundbreaking solution that addresses the outdated technologies still prevalent in liquor stores and other retail environments. According to estimates, the beverage-alcohol industry is valued at around $250 billion, yet the liquor retail segment remains one of the final frontiers resisting modernization. Legacy POS systems that were designed decades ago still dominate, creating an operational burden characterized by manual processes and inefficiencies.

Under the leadership of CEO Jake Bolling, CRO Kevin Hodges, and CTO Dan Chen, Scotch seeks to redefine the liquor retail experience. The founders previously developed Skupos, another startup focused on modernizing convenience store operations, allowing them to draw upon rich expertise in overcoming the hurdles of the retail landscape.
