Exploring the Path to Social Entrepreneurship with Aoba-BBT Group's Special Online Discussion

A Journey into Social Entrepreneurship

Aoba-BBT, headquartered in Chiyoda, Tokyo, is celebrating the launch of its anniversary project titled "Life-time Empowerment in Invisible Continent". This project is set to take place from 2025 to 2027 and aims to explore the significance of social entrepreneurship in today's society. On April 15, 2026, Aoba-BBT will host the first edition of a special online discussion series featuring alumni, focusing on educational expertise in nurturing leaders capable of instigating social change.

Special Guests: Influential Figures in Education

The highlighted guest for this event is Nobuo Morishima, the representative director of the social entrepreneur training institution, ISSHINJUKU, established by renowned management consultant Kenichi Ohmae. Morishima has played a pivotal role in the training of 6,500 graduates over nearly three decades, with an impressive track record of 360 social entrepreneurs and 24 local government leaders emerging from the program.

During this online discussion, the directors of two significant educational entities, BBT and ISSHINJUKU, will converse about their unique methodologies in cultivating talent designed to equip ordinary citizens with the skills necessary to enact social change. They will unveil their comprehensive training method coined “The Equation of Living with Purpose.”

Context of the Discussion: Seeds Sown by Kenichi Ohmae

This event stems from Aoba-BBT's overarching objective of promoting dedicated citizenry in Japan, a vision championed by Kenichi Ohmae since the founding of ISSHINJUKU in 1994. Morishima's journey into this educational paradigm began in 1996, after transitioning from urban development at Sekisui House to a mission-focused approach in a socio-entrepreneurial environment. Alongside, BBT's focus on nurturing global business leaders since its inception in 1998 complements the efforts demonstrated within the ISSHINJUKU framework. The confluence of these two educational methodologies will unveil how educational philosophies have culminated in tangible social impact.

Objectives of the Discussion

The primary goal of this discussion is to share insights from one of Japan's leading technical training institutions for social entrepreneurship. The ISSHINJUKU is recognized as an elite training ground for talent, surpassing traditional circuits like Matsushita's Seikei School by yielding 24 local government leaders. Having served at ISSHINJUKU for 29 years since 1997, Morishima has become a stalwart supporter of students challenging themselves to live purposefully amidst their journeys. His experience navigating over 100 courses and executing more than 1,000 individual consulting sessions emboldens aspiring leaders toward social reform.

By sharing his profound experiences, Morishima aims to inspire a new generation of leaders ready to lead social changes with resolute spirits.

Discussion Highlights

  • - The Experience of a Career Transition: Morishima shares his transformative moment that led him to join ISSHINJUKU in 1996 and step away from a secure corporate career.
  • - Realities of Managing the “School of Purpose”: What factors underlie the management decisions that have allowed ISSHINJUKU to produce 360 social entrepreneurs and 262 politicians?
