About Kanjuro Kiritake
Kanjuro Kiritake is a celebrated figure in the world of Bunraku, having entered the Bunraku Association as a puppeteer’s apprentice at the tender age of 14. Trained under the esteemed
Yoshida Minosuke III, he later took on the name Yoshida Minotaro before officially becoming the third
Kanjuro Kiritake in 2003.
His performances have earned him national acclaim, leading to his designation as a
Important Intangible Cultural Asset (Living National Treasure) in October 2021 and later as a member of the
Japan Art Academy in March 2023.
