Innovative Joint Research on Hogume Conditioning Sheets Begins at Yamanashi University

Introduction

In a significant step towards blending engineering with medicine, Promo Co., Ltd. has launched a collaborative research initiative with Professor Yasumi Ito of Yamanashi University's Graduate School of Engineering. This research focuses on the company's innovative conditioning sheet brand, "Hogume," and its Reflect Core technology, aiming to advance the scientific understanding of how these products can impact human health and safety.

Engineering Meets Medicine

The field of safety engineering combines medical and engineering principles to establish safety standards for the human body. By employing engineering techniques to evaluate bodily injury, the aim is to develop medical and welfare devices, safety assessment technologies, and scientific investigation methods to create a safer and more secure society. The ongoing research targets specific non-invasive measurements of blood flow and comfort while wearing Hogume products, evaluating the extent of warmth (infrared radiation) on blood flow and understanding the physical phenomena that affect user experiences.

Research Background: A Personal Journey

Nakaawa Naoya, the president of Promo, hails from a mechanical engineering background, with over 25 years of experience specializing in inkjet printing technologies. His career, however, took a crucial turn after he developed hyperthyroidism due to excessive stress 14 years ago. This life-altering experience brought about a profound realization about the importance of health. His new perspective ignited a keen interest in the engineering properties of infrared radiation, including its wavelengths, emissions, and inter-molecular vibrations. This interest fueled the creation of the Reflect Core technology and the Hogume brand, which merge his expertise in inkjet technology with volcanic stone powder.

Research Developments and Future Plans

The aim of the ongoing research is to quantitatively and scientifically clarify the health benefits of the Hogume product line. Preliminary results will be presented in a conference and published as a paper after 2025. Plans include exploring the potential of infrared sheets made from volcanic materials. General sales are scheduled to begin on October 8, 2025, with significant backing already received through the crowdfunding platform Makuake, amounting to 6.4 million yen and support from 660 contributors. This demonstrates a strong public interest in the innovative application of Hogume conditioning sheets.

Conclusion

The collaboration between Promo Co., Ltd. and Yamanashi University symbolizes a meaningful intersection of engineering and health sciences. The forthcoming research will not only enhance our understanding of the Hogume products but also strengthen the foundation of safety and efficacy in health-related technologies.
