Create Your Own Unique Character with AI and Digital Fabrication!
Join us for an innovative workshop designed for elementary school students in Tokyo! On February 11, 2023, from 1 PM to 4 PM, students in grades 4 to 6 are invited to unleash their creativity by designing unique characters using generative AI and digital fabrication techniques.
What You’ll Experience
The workshop is a collaborative effort between the Tokyo Children's Creative Lab (nicknamed "Kurilabo") and TIB FAB, a facility dedicated to supporting manufacturing startups. Participants will engage in a three-hour session where they can learn about the intricacies of generative AI, interact with tools such as laser cutters and UV printers, and ultimately create a personalized keychain featuring their unique character.
Learning and Creation
1.
Generating Your Character
You'll start by conceptualizing your character's traits. By entering the names of two animals or objects that embody these traits into a generative AI illustration app, you can watch the magic unfold as the AI creates a brand new character just for you.
Without a doubt, thinking about questions like, "What animals would create the ultimate creature?" or "Which character would bring joy to my life?" will spark your imagination as you develop your unique creation.
Throughout this creative process, fun quizzes will help you learn how generative AI works, making the learning experience enjoyable and engaging.
2.
Transforming it into Reality
Next, you will head to TIB FAB, where you'll have the opportunity to print your character using UV printers. You will also get the chance to witness demonstrations of digital fabrication with laser cutters and 3D printers.
Once your character is printed on an acrylic sheet, you’ll add chains and charm decorations to create a personalized keychain that you can take home!
Keep in mind that all participants will leave with their handmade keychain at the end of the workshop.
