Tokyo's Major Investment Support Program
Starting from March 24, a new initiative has been launched in Tokyo to support the significant investment projects of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The program, formally known as the "Support Program for Equipment Investment to Promote Dynamic Business Advancement," allows eligible businesses to receive subsidies of up to 200 million yen. This initiative is operated by Navit Co., Ltd., headquartered in Chiyoda, Tokyo, under the leadership of CEO Yasuyo Fukui.
Program Overview
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has recently published the overview for the fiscal year 2028 regarding this support program. Businesses that are engaged in enhancing their competitiveness and productivity through new equipment installations can apply for the subsidy. The application periods are as follows:
- - 12th round: April 21 to April 30
- - 13th round: July 14 to July 23

Application Eligibility
To be eligible for the program, businesses must meet the following criteria as of the reference date (April 1, 2028):
- - Must have their main office or branch registered in Tokyo (including individual businesses operating with notification in Tokyo) and have been in business for at least two years.
Supported Business Projects
The program categorizes supported projects into three main areas:

Competitiveness Enhancement: This includes projects aimed at introducing necessary machinery and equipment for further development and making firms more competitive.

- SMEs: 50% to 75%
- Small businesses: 67% to 80%

Subsidy Amount: From 1 million yen to 100 million yen.

Successor Challenge: This is targeted at businesses looking to diversify or tackle new management issues during a succession phase. Support for the installation of essential machinery and equipment is available.

3.
Upgrade Promotion: Projects that aim to enhance competitiveness and productivity to grow into a central player in the regional economy are included.

Equipment Installation Locations
The equipment must be installed within Tokyo or in the neighboring prefectures of Kanagawa, Saitama, Chiba, Gunma, Tochigi, Ibaraki, and Yamanashi. Note that if equipment is installed outside Tokyo, the company must still have its main office located within Tokyo.
