Transforming Stories into Comics: A New Contest

In an exciting move for aspiring writers, Teller Novel Inc., a leading novel-sharing platform based in Tokyo, is launching a joint initiative with GG-COMICS, a digital comic publishing label under the umbrella of the DMM Group. Starting January 26, 2026, they will host the “Instant Serialization Special Contest,” aimed at encouraging authors to submit works suitable for comic adaptation.

With over 7.6 million downloads as of March 2025, Teller Novel aims to leverage its vast user base to discover the next big hit in manga. This contest will select stories posted on Teller Novel that exhibit strong potential to be serialized as comics.

Contest Overview

The inaugural contest will specifically seek novel submissions that can be transformed into engaging comic stories, focusing on both male-targeted fantasy and female-targeted romance fantasy genres. Entrants are invited to produce narratives designed for 3 comic chapters, each around 30 pages. Submissions should be a minimum of 18,000 words, showcasing a clear storyline that flows well and is adaptable for comic format.

The winning stories will not only earn their authors accolades but will also be assured serialization in GG-COMICS. This includes a minimum of 10 episodes in a guaranteed run, culminating in the release of two digital volumes.
