Yukai Engineering to Showcase Innovative Maker Board at Maker Faire Tokyo 2025

Yukai Engineering Set to Unveil the Maker Board at Maker Faire Tokyo 2025

Yukai Engineering Inc., known for its innovative robotics and IoT products, is bringing an exciting array of technology to Maker Faire Tokyo 2025 on October 4 and 5, at the Tokyo Big Sight. Their vision, "Transforming the World with Robotics," drives the company to engage audiences with interactive and user-friendly products, making robotics accessible to everyone.

At this year's Maker Faire, Yukai will showcase a range of its robotics products, including the newly released Nekojita Fu-fu. However, the star of the show is undoubtedly their new programming kit, the Maker Board, designed for beginners wanting to dive into making sophisticated robots.

Innovative Features of Maker Board

One of the most exciting features set to be demonstrated is the audio playback functionality. Attendees will witness a dynamic exhibition where a dedicated audio output board (sold separately) connects to the Maker Board. When visitors interact with sensor controls, audio responses will emanate from the projects, providing a hands-on experience that brings creativity to life.

The Maker Board allows users to build robots without the need for soldering. It is compatible with various commercially available motors and sensors, unleashing limitless possibilities for building advanced robotic creations. Utilizing a visual programming interface, users can easily drag and drop blocks to create programs on their PCs or tablets—helping to lower the barrier to entry for aspiring makers.

Prices for the Maker Board start at 6,050 yen (tax included) for the standalone unit. Alternatively, the Maker Board Communication Package includes additional sensors and motors for 9,350 yen (tax included), enabling users to create even more robust projects.

Development of Audio Playback Functionality

The development of this new audio feature is driven by feedback from students attending Robotics lectures at Joshibi University of Art and Design and Musashino Art University. Many students expressed a desire for an easy way to incorporate sound into their robotics projects, especially when working on partner robot themes. The new feature allows users to play audio files triggered by specific sensor inputs, making it easier to design projects like:
  • - Robots that greet you with “Welcome home”
  • - Robots that express unique personalities with quirky dialogue
  • - Original animal robots that make charming sounds

Yukai Engineering plans to continuously adapt the Maker Board to include more sensors and functionalities based on user needs, effectively becoming a versatile tool for both educational and corporate settings.
