Celebrating 30 Years of Excellence at Famiglia Cecchi's Val delle Rose in Tuscany

A Legacy of Fine Winemaking in Maremma

Famiglia Cecchi is celebrating a remarkable milestone, the 30th anniversary of its prestigious Val delle Rose estate, nestled in the picturesque region of Maremma, Tuscany. Since acquiring the vineyard in 1996, the Cecchi family has made significant contributions to the local winemaking scene, focusing on creating exceptional wines that embody the essence of the Mediterranean landscape.

Thirty years ago, the Maremma was still establishing its identity in the wine world, making the foresight of the Cecchi family to invest in this budding region all the more commendable. Their choice of Poggio La Mozza was driven by a thorough understanding of the area's viticultural potential, characterized by favorable climatic conditions and proximity to the coast, which has proven vital in shaping their distinct wine offerings.

Initially starting with 25 hectares, the estate has grown substantially to encompass 186 hectares, with over half of these vineyards now cultivated under organic practices since the 2021 harvest. The Cecchis are dedicated to sustainable agriculture and employ innovative farming techniques grounded in meticulous soil research. This commitment to quality is exemplified by the inauguration of a state-of-the-art winery in 2011, which now serves as both a production facility and a hospitality venue for visitors eager to explore the estate’s offerings.

The Evolution of Val delle Rose

The 30th anniversary signifies a new chapter for Val delle Rose, wherein the family aims to expand its portfolio with fresh, modern wines that reflect the evolving character of the Maremma. Notable among these is the 'Rosamante' Morellino di Scansano DOCG, showcasing the classic Sangiovese grape, complemented by the 'Litorale' Vermentino Maremma Toscana DOC, made entirely from Vermentino grapes. The estate also explores various red varieties like Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Ciliegiolo, harnessing the unique coastal terroir of their vineyards.

A new chapter unfolds as Famiglia Cecchi prepares to introduce a "fresh wave" of wines that celebrate the diverse flavors of Maremma. The upcoming 2026 release will showcase the Lobelia Toscana IGT Bianco, a crisp white blend of Vermentino, Trebbiano, and Chardonnay, emphasizing aromatic freshness and drinkability. Alongside this, the estate's customer favorites will continue to shine, including the Caprifoglio Viognier Maremma Toscana DOC, which captures the essence of Viognier, and the innovative Calipte Toscana IGT Rosé, which is crafted from 100% Sangiovese. Notably, the designs for Calipte and Lobelia feature eco-friendly, digitally printed labels that utilize organic inks, ensuring the bottles are fully recyclable.

A Celebration of Maremma

"Thirty years ago, we chose the Maremma because we sensed its potential—an ever-evolving land offering ideal soil and climate for extraordinary freedom of interpretation," shares Andrea Cecchi, the President and CEO of Famiglia Cecchi. He emphasizes the family's enduring respect for the region's authentic character and their ongoing commitment to crafting wines that combine identity, precision, and pleasure.

To commemorate the anniversary, Val delle Rose is opening its doors once again this summer, bringing back its popular and highly anticipated public events. This year’s lineup features new wine additions alongside traditional offerings, creating an exciting experience for visitors. Guests can indulge in weekly sunset aperitifs amid the stunning wisteria, as well as participate in an exclusive evening dedicated to "Morellino Classica," and enjoy mesmerizing stargazing experiences in the idyllic countryside setting.
